I had the pleasure of working with Shelby during her Summer 2024 Internship with L.L.Bean; an exceptionally competitive program, Shelby was an easy pick for this prestigious intern class, and she proved quickly to be an incredible asset.

Being a remote intern for such a relationship-based organization while making an impact is tough... and you'd never know that Shelby was not in the State of Maine because she naturally and organically made herself a known part of the work beautifully. She is proactive and professional... polished and polite. A smart and a natural leader. Asks great and provocative questions that made us think differently of some of our strategies and positioning.

You can put Shelby in a room anywhere, with any project, with any human from any department or industry. She just figures it out, eases in naturally, adapts gracefully and leads with incredible value and insight. She felt like a deeply experienced industry peer next to us this summer, and I just loved working with her dearly.

I'd highly recommend Shelby for any organization that is looking for a bright, smart, capable, and easy to assimilate leader. She shows up, works hard, puts her heart and soul into her work, makes relationships and drives herself to perfection.

Shelby you are delightful--- I wish you all the best and it was an OUTSTANDING experience working with you this summer! So proud of you!
I had the pleasure of working with Shelby during our time at Goldman Sachs, where she consistently stood out for her strong work ethic, creativity, and attention to detail.

Shelby played an important role across a range of initiatives, including email campaigns, webinars, and broader marketing efforts. She brought a thoughtful and strategic approach to her work, ensuring that deliverables were executed seamlessly and aligned with broader team objectives. She is highly organized, proactive, and always willing to go the extra mile to deliver high-quality results.

What impressed me most was Shelby’s ability to take ownership and follow through. She is dependable, detail-oriented, and approaches challenges with a positive, solutions-oriented mindset.

Beyond her professional skill set, Shelby is a fantastic colleague—collaborative, supportive, and a pleasure to work with. I’m confident she will continue to make a meaningful impact, and I highly recommend her.

I had the pleasure of leading Shelby when she interned at L.L.Bean during the summer of 2024. A LinkedIn recommendation simply won't do Shelby justice, but I will do my best!

Shelby's impact began on day one. From the start, she was professional, curious, proactive, and exceedingly conscientious and kind. Simply put, she’s someone any company would be fortunate to have. As an HR Communications Intern, she was responsible for writing impactful communications that kept L.L.Bean employees up to date on what was happening in the business. In her writing, Shelby effortlessly identified key themes and trends and translated them into easy-to-understand yet engaging messaging.

But Shelby did more than just write compelling messaging. She demonstrated her range and flexibility by collaborating on a summer-long project with fellow interns, delivering actionable and creative recommendations on how to attract and hire talent in new geographical markets. She also built meaningful relationships during her time at L.L.Bean, even while working remotely. Her approachable personality allowed her to connect with employees in different departments across the business. When I met co-workers who had interacted with Shelby, they often said, “I met Shelby the other day. Wow, she’s great!” These compliments are testaments to Shelby’s ability to build strong, reciprocal professional relationships.

Lastly, while Shelby has a calm, easy-going personality, don’t let that fool you. She is extremely motivated and always puts in the work required to great results. She will succeed wherever she goes and in whatever she does. She has my wholehearted recommendation.

Thank you, Shelby! You were delightful to work with and I cannot wait to see where the future takes you.
I had the pleasure of working with Shelby at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where she helped coordinate and manage the development of a new marketing initiative. She demonstrated very strong organizational and project management skills, staying on top of deadlines and moving work forward. She impressed me with how quickly she picked up systems and processes, and offered feedback and ideas. She would be a fantastic asset to any team, and I highly recommend her.

What do I say about Shelby? In a word, a lot. I had the pleasure of leading Shelby as a summer intern at L.L.Bean in our Corporate Communications Department. During her time with us, Shelby consistently demonstrated a willingness to take on any assignment, often exceeding expectations with her fresh approach and perspective.

She quickly became an invaluable team member, proactively suggesting new angles for our communications strategies and deliveries. Her creativity and ability to deliver content clearly and engagingly were impressive – especially considering that she’s still in college.

As a writer, Shelby has a natural talent for creating context and delivering messages in a way that is both lively and easily understandable. Her contributions have had a positive impact on our projects, and those lucky enough to have her on their team will benefit immensely.

Moreover, Shelby showed such curiosity and a keen interest in understanding the broader workings of our company. She was never shy to ask if she could shadow colleagues in other departments, demonstrating her eagerness to learn and grow while developing a great grasp of our busy, complex retail business. And she was very fun – a bright, interested, and interesting person who brought a ton of joy to our hectic schedule and workload.

She’s a gem and I know she will one day drive any marketing, communications, or other endeavors she pursues to success and growth. She’s awesome!
It’s not often I get to see my students take what they have learned in the classroom and apply it in a “real-world” work environment. I was fortunate enough to see Shelby apply her skills in both areas; first in my Marketing class and then for a start-up company we were involved with on the Marketing side.

Shelby has a critical thinking mind-set that enables her to provide insightful analysis for projects and case studies. She then backs up her analysis with solid data points. Shelby was especially strong at digital and social media marketing. Plus she understands the importance of effective branding for a product, a service, and a company.

Understanding the concepts and applying them is only part of what makes Shelby a successful student and employee. She is diligent and conscientious, plus she always has a pleasant can-do attitude. If you have the opportunity to hire Shelby, I recommend you do. She’ll be a valuable employee.

Shelby is a true trailblazer. She is an innovative, driven, and thoughtful leader who consistently sets a high standard in every single role she takes on. She has directly managed a team of peers with professionalism and care, boosting team and organizational morale. Through her creative strategies and intentional planning, she has significantly increased engagement both on social media and across campus, demonstrating a deep understanding of effective outreach and community building. Shelby approaches every task with care, purpose, and a strong sense of responsibility, ensuring her work not only meets expectations but often exceeds them. In my time advising students, she stands out as one of the most dedicated and thoughtful students I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.
I have had the privilege of working with Shelby this past year through the Undergraduate Government of Boston College’s Communications Division. Shelby has served as the Director of Communications, and I reported to her first as a General Coordinator and then later as her Assistant Director. From my first impression of Shelby, I knew that she was an engaging, enthusiastic, creative, and dynamic individual who excels in a leadership position.
Shelby does everything in her power day in and day out to ensure that her team feels supported and encouraged to do their best work. She is knowledgeable about a wide variety of content creation strategies, and she is always eager and willing to share that knowledge with others on our team. She has been instrumental in the success of not only the Communications Division but also UGBC as a whole, furthering the organization’s brand image and social media presence through unique and engaging content strategies. I greatly admire her empathetic and productive leadership style, and it has been a pleasure getting to know and work with her over the past year.
Shelby is the most driven and creative person I know, and many of the marketing and content management skills I’ve developed have been a direct result of her positive leadership and guidance. She exemplifies everything you could want in a marketing and communications professional; she is adaptable, hardworking, detail-oriented, innovative, and genuinely cares about the betterment of and contributing to a positive team dynamic. I am confident that Shelby will be a valuable asset to any organization she seeks to join in the future.

I've had the privilege of working with Shelby since she was a junior in high school. We both joined Access Opportunity at the same time—Shelby as a student and me as a staff member. To be accepted into the program, Shelby underwent a rigorous application and interview process that requires students to have clear college and career goals. Her ability to do so at such a young age is a testament to her determination and maturity. I still remember our very first meeting—she knew exactly what she wanted and was eager for guidance. It was clear that Shelby had committed to pursuing higher education early on, and she was ready to overcome any obstacle to achieving her goals.

Years later, as she approaches graduation, I continue to see this same drive in Shelby. One of the qualities that sets Shelby apart is her ability to use her skills and talents to uplift and empower those around her. Even as a high school student, every time we met at a coffee shop near her school, she would stay after our meetings to tutor her peers. In her second year with Access Opportunity, Shelby became an ambassador for the program at her school, encouraging her classmates to apply. Since then, she has taken on formal roles within Access Opportunity, serving as both a Peer Mentor and a Communications Fellow, exceeding expectations in both. Shelby embraces leadership and mentorship with enthusiasm and pride, and I am confident she will be an asset to any organization she joins. She is a rockstar!
Shelby has undoubtedly been one of my most talented and driven student designers. Our work together was focused on community outreach and work with younger children though the use of our Mobile Innovation Lab. Shelby demonstrated leadership through project management and ensured high quality of the work we were doing with problem solving and communication. If I needed something to get done, I could always trust Shelby to follow through.

Knowing Shelby in multiple capacities, I can give my highest recommendation with 100% confidence. Any organization would be better off with Shelby on their team.

Shelby and I were both HR interns at L.L.Bean, tasked with developing a strategy for recruiting a more diverse workforce in L.L.Bean's new store in Sarasota, FL. This was a complex task, and I had doubt as to whether we were capable of developing such a strategy. Shelby seamlessly stepped into a leadership role early in the project, to provide clarity, comfort, and lead early discussions of our strategy. As we approach the final presentation and I reflect on our work over the past 8 weeks, I can say with confidence: Shelby is the most dedicated, hard-working, approachable, and proactive team member I have ever collaborated with. Her enthusiasm and natural charisma drew immense support towards our project and helped to create the positive momentum we needed for such a complicated project.

Additionally, Shelby made admirable efforts to build connections with all interns, both professionally and personally. For a remote intern, Shelby used her natural ability to create human connection with nearly all 40 of us. It was as if Shelby, despite being remote, was here in HQ with us the whole time. I am very hopeful Shelby and I's paths cross again as we embark on our professional journeys. She has taught me more than she knows and has left a lasting positive impact on L.L.Bean.
I have had the privilege of managing Shelby in a Peer Mentor position with our organization, Access Opportunity. Shelby was matched with several college freshmen (mostly first-gen students) going to schools across the country to help them adjust to college life while nurturing any adversities they experienced throughout the year. Shelby has been, by far, one of the most engaged, motivated, and dedicated students in our organization as a whole. If I could trust anyone to nurture, motivate, and handle sensitive information from other students, it will always be Shelby! She is truly a positive force that everyone can benefit from knowing. She is hardworking, empathetic, and uses critical thinking to the benefit of everyone around her. I would recommend Shelby for anything she sets her mind to do, as I know she will surely succeed and support anyone who has the privilege of working with her.

I had the opportunity to work with Shelby Seybold for a little more than three years. As managing editor of the Denver VOICE, a monthly street paper, I worked closely with our executive director and program coordinator on logistics for meetings and fundraisers. Any time we needed additional volunteers to assist or to help with administrative tasks, Shelby was one of the first people I called.

Even when she wasn’t volunteering for us, Shelby would drop by and visit with our vendors (what we call those who vend the Denver VOICE).

Shelby is gracious, kind, and compassionate. Regardless of anyone else’s social status, cleanliness, or mental state, Shelby treats them with respect. I sincerely believe that Shelby’s interpersonal skills, combined with her ability to jump in and help with any task – from the most mundane, to the most time-intensive – make her an asset to any organization for which she works or volunteers.
During Shelby’s time as an intern at L.L.Bean, I had the pleasure of crossing paths with her, and she truly made an impact.

One of the things that stands out the most about Shelby is her curiosity and dedication to learning. She went out of her way to meet with me to learn about our social media process and strategy, soaking it all up like a sponge. She asked thoughtful questions and wasn’t afraid to provide her perspective, which was incredibly valuable—I learned from her as well!

I had the opportunity to collaborate with Shelby a few times on her articles for L.L.Bean’s internal communications, and I was impressed with her work. Her writing is clear, concise, and focused. She was always professional and polite in her interviews, earning instant respect from everyone on my team who had the chance to work with her.

Shelby approaches every conversation and task with a level of enthusiasm and energy that is both refreshing and contagious. It’s clear that she is incredibly intelligent and motivated to succeed.

I’m genuinely excited to see where Shelby goes next. Any team would be fortunate to have her. I have no doubt that she has an incredibly successful future ahead of her in marketing or whatever she chooses to pursue!

I had the privilege of serving as Shelby’s manager at the Boston College Career Center during the 2023 academic year. From the start, Shelby established herself as one of the most driven Marketing Assistants with which I have gotten to work. Looking at our goals as a marketing department, Shelby developed a social media plan to acquire a fresh student following and shared it with our leadership team. Over the course of her time with us, she has grown our social following more than 10% and launched our department’s TikTok account. I have worked with many talented content creators in my time at Boston College, but Shelby is one of the rare few who pairs her ability to make engaging content with the ingenuity and curiosity of content planning. She worked incredibly well with our staff on several projects, displaying an incredible ability to prioritize her work and be efficient. I would happily recommend her for any role she finds worthy of her skills.
Shelby excelled in a diverse range of projects as AO's Marketing & Communications Fellow, including supervising student leaders, managing social media, and designing t-shirts. Additionally, her exceptional writing skills were highlighted in a blog series that provided students with detailed career tips and insight into the first-gen college student experience. She played a key role in our fundraiser, demonstrating strong brand management and development abilities. Shelby consistently delivered high-quality work and I always felt confident handing a project off to her!

I have had the privilege of knowing Shelby since our junior year of high school through our shared participation in Access Opportunity. It has been incredibly inspiring to witness her journey and growth over the years.

From the start, Shelby has consistently exhibited exceptional leadership and mentorship qualities. Her natural ability to inspire and guide others is evident in every project she undertakes. Whether she's leading a team or mentoring peers, Shelby approaches each challenge with enthusiasm and a collaborative spirit that elevates the entire group.

What distinguishes Shelby is not only her leadership prowess but also her ambitious approach to every endeavor. She doesn't just fulfill tasks; she actively seeks opportunities to innovate and exceed expectations. Her commitment to achieving excellence is evident in the meticulous attention she pays to every detail of her projects, showcasing a rare blend of creativity and strategic thinking.

Throughout our journey together, I have witnessed firsthand how Shelby's dedication and ambition have positively impacted those around her. Her ability to navigate challenges with grace and determination sets her apart as a true leader in her field.

I wholeheartedly recommend her for any role or opportunity she pursues. Her leadership, mentorship, and unwavering ambition make her an invaluable asset to any team or organization.
I had the opportunity to partner with and mentor Shelby on the Corporate Communications team at L.L.Bean in summer 2024, and I wholeheartedly recommend her as a talented and enthusiastic communications professional. Shelby was a key contributor to the intranet news, crafting stories using information from stakeholders across the organization, identifying the big beats, and writing in an accessible, on-brand tone. She also designed aesthetically appealing slides for HQ digital screens in support of these written communications. Shelby was excited to try new things, unafraid to ask questions, incredibly receptive of edits and other feedback, and highly professional in her interactions with our team as well as with colleagues across the company. She would make a valuable addition to any marketing and communications team!

During my time as an onsite IT support professional at Goldman Sachs, I had the opportunity to interact with Shelby regularly whenever she or her colleagues needed technical assistance. She was always professional, approachable, and easy to work with. I was particularly impressed by her collaborative nature, responsiveness, and genuine commitment to helping her team succeed. She consistently fostered positive working relationships and was a pleasure to support. I would confidently recommend her to any organization looking for a dependable and team-oriented professional.
I have had the pleasure of working with Shelby as our Schiller Institute’s Marketing and Event Planning Assistant during the 2024-2025 academic year. Though Shelby’s main focus is our social media, she contributes to a wide range of projects for the Institute and has proven to be an invaluable asset to our team from the moment she started working. She has done an incredible job taking our social media presence to the next level. In the first couple weeks on the job, she created an impressive, well-organized and thought-out content calendar for the academic year as well as conceptualized and brought to life a social media series for the Institute. Given that the Institute is still relatively new (~5 years), Shelby has also helped strengthen our brand image, creating a branding kit that she has helped teach our other Marketing and Event Planning Assistants how to use. Additionally, she has designed eye-catching posters, taken high quality photos, and brainstormed and recommended a name for a new student-facing newsletter.

I’m consistently impressed by her knack for thinking ahead, pitching new, creative ideas, and working collaboratively, and I’ve enjoyed and appreciated having her as a thought partner. Shelby takes pride in her work and is a quick learner, diligent worker, and strong communicator. On top of all that, she is a joy to work with. Any team would be lucky to have her!

When I met Shelby on the first day of class in my Consumer Insights course last semester, I knew that she would be a valuable part of our classroom community. Shelby brought her creativity, strong communication skills, and analytical strength to the class each week, but I saw these skills shine the most during our semester-long group research project.

Shelby emerged as a leader within her team immediately, and I was impressed not only by her quantitative analytical abilities, but by her strength in working with her teammates. Shelby was able to to quickly learn and apply statistical analytical skills working with the data collected for this project, and also worked effectively with her teammates to bring the full analysis together. The results were insightful and action-oriented recommendations for the brand they were researching.

I would be absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to teach and/or work with Shelby again in the future, and know she'll be a tremendous analytical and creative asset to any team she is part of in the future.
Shelby Seybold is an impressive young scholar who already exhibits the confidence, enthusiasm, poise, and energy of a seasoned public presenter. Shelby frequented my Strategic Marketing class in the 2023-24 academic year and throughout that time, Shelby proved to be an outstanding student. She stood out for her engagement, interest, friendliness, and valuable contributions in class. Shelby is organised, pro-active, responsible and committed and it was a pleasure having her in class as she contributed to a lively and stimulating academic environment. The module required students to develop a strategic marketing plan for a struggling brand - Shelby chose The Body Shop. As expected, Shelby delivered an extensive and excellent piece of work, where she had to conduct secondary data research, critically combine theory and practice, and make informed recommendations for the case company. The work presented by Shelby demonstrated not only academic excellence in the specific subject but also great research, communication, and organisation skills, and I’m sure she’ll do great in whatever she sets her mind to.
I had the pleasure of having Shelby in three of my courses at Boston College in the Communication department: Social Media, Influencer Culture, and Spiritual but Not Religious Culture. Shelby is always well-prepared for the class time, completing all the readings for class and ready with insightful reflections on the readings. She does excellent work in her assignments, especially creative assignments. Shelby genuinely engages in the course discussions and offers relevant contributions to the class. She is a kind and considerate person, who is a wonderful member of the classroom community.

To Whom It May Concern:
Shelby Seybold has asked me to write her this letter of recommendation. This I am pleased to do.  I had Shelby in my “God, Self and Society” theology core class. Throughout the course, she demonstrated an exceptional ability to connect theological concepts with personal life experiences, showcasing a depth of understanding and empathy that is truly remarkable.
Shelby's coursework was not only academically rigorous but also deeply personal and reflective. She shared her journey of resilience, courage, and faith with a level of honesty and vulnerability that was both inspiring and humbling for myself and her peers.
One of the most striking aspects of Shelby’s work is her ability to draw meaningful lessons from her life experiences and apply them to broader principles. Whether discussing the challenges of growing up in a single-parent household, the strength required to care for a loved one with cancer, or the deep spiritual questions raised by the loss of a best friend at a young age, Shelby consistently demonstrated a remarkable capacity for introspection and growth.
In addition to her academic excellence, Shelby is a person of integrity and compassion. She has a natural ability to connect with others, offering support and empathy in times of need. Her commitment to service, as evidenced by her heavy involvement in various community and church activities, is a testament to her dedication to making a positive impact on the world.
At Boston College, we emphasize the importance of being “men and women for others,” a principle that Shelby embodies wholeheartedly. Her dedication to service, her empathy for others, and her unwavering commitment to social justice reflect this core value. She consistently strives to make a difference in the lives of those around her, demonstrating a selflessness and generosity that are truly inspiring.
Shelby’s skills in communication, storytelling, and community engagement are particularly relevant to a career in marketing and communications. Her ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and compellingly, combined with her empathetic approach, makes her exceptionally well-suited for roles that require connecting with diverse audiences and creating impactful messages. Her leadership in student organizations and her proactive involvement in community service have equipped her with the strategic thinking and organizational skills necessary for success in any field.
I have no doubt that Shelby will excel in any position she pursues. Her unique combination of intellectual rigor, personal resilience, and unwavering faith makes her an exceptional candidate for any role. I wholeheartedly recommend Shelby for any opportunity she seeks, confident that she will bring the same level of dedication, empathy, and excellence to her professional endeavors as she did to her academic work.
